Blekinge Air Force Wing is looking for a Weather Observer for the Weather Department

As a Weather Observer, you will be part of the team in the weather department that operates the local weather service around the clock. The weather department is a section of the Flying Unit, and the main task is to provide our flying units and other personnel with weather data for planning. The tasks mainly consist of working with practical weather observation services, but administrative tasks also occur.

Your workplace will primarily be at the weather department at the wing, but work at air bases/alternative landing sites and assignments in other locations may also occur with relatively short notice. Service abroad may occur.

Main Responsibilities

• Weather observation service at F17 Weather Department and occasionally at other locations
• Participate in and contribute to other tasks in the department and flying unit
• Participate in training activities, nationally and internationally
• Participate in exercises at temporary bases in field environments

Qualifications

• High school diploma with passing grades
• Category B driver's license (manual transmission)

We are looking for someone who is solution-oriented and has no problem rearranging your tasks due to emerging situations. You have a good structure in your work and are used to working at different tempos. You will work under your own responsibility, and a lot of independent work will occur, which means you need to be confident in yourself and able to contribute to solving emerging challenges. You will also work in a team, which requires you to have a good ability to collaborate and interact with others. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability for the position.

• Previous experience in similar tasks that the employer assesses as equivalent.

The position is a permanent employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period. You will undergo mandatory specialized training both at Blekinge Air Force Wing/F17 and at other locations. An introductory course (3 weeks) in weather observation service will be conducted, for example, in Enköping. Round-the-clock work including weekends. Work location: Ronneby. Start date: As soon as possible by agreement. Since you will be placed in a war position, you will undergo basic soldier training.
